During a visit to Narsingwadi village in Shirol taluka of Kolhapur district, one of the worst-affected areas, she assured the people that the state government would provide all assistance to them.

Gandhi, who was accompanied by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Marketing Minister Harshwardhan Patil, asked the former to look into the complaints of the people, who had suffered heavy losses in the recent floods.

The UPA Chairperson, who was earlier scheduled to visit Takaliwadi, had cancelled her programme and came to Shirol village and interacted with the residents, who narrated their harrowing experiences to her.
