THE LUCKNOW police finally succeeded in eliminating their most wanted accused Sachin Pahadi. But the whereabouts of another youth Amit Singh, present during the attack on Mehar Bhargava, would always remain a mystery now. It may be recalled that initially, it was merely Amit Singh who was named in the case on the very first day of the incident. The police had later claimed that Amit was a historysheeter of Mughalsarai district and a team was also sent there to trace him.

But, soon the police denied the role of Amit Singh, without collecting details about him and cross-checking the facts.

As the cops had failed to trace Pahadi, they claimed that it was Pahadi who had floated another forged name. To strengthen their statement, the cops referred to other forged names of Pahadi such as Ranjit alias Karki alias Dinesh.

However, Mehar’s driver had insisted that the youth who had shot at her had identified himself as Amit Singh.

Now, Pahadi was the only link who could have unravelled this mystery. But with his death, this possibility has vanished forever.
