When we were invited for an evening of Chilean wine and Italian food at Sartoria, the last thing we expected was to gobble down the salad. Part of their Friday special called Fridays Uncorked, where wines from around the world are paired with Italian food, the salad (Roma tomato, boconccini and fresh basil) was served with a glass of Sol de Chile Sauvignon Chardonay. The salad was just right — fresh and crunchy with pungent cheese, and blended beautifully with the floral, fruity wine.

For main course, we tried a Seafood Pasta and good ol’ Pepperoni Pizza. The pasta was served with a bold Babor Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine, with its hint of blackcurrants and cherries, offset the overpowering taste of seafood perfectly.

We chose the citric Sauvignon Chardonay to go with dessert — Chocolate Budino, a molten chocolate-filled brownie served warm with ice cream. A heavenly combination, unless you’re driving, of course.

Every Friday, 7.30 pm onwards, at Sartoria, 18 A, Basant Lok, Vasant Vihar; Cost per person: Rs 1,000 (2-course meal with 2 wines); Rs 1,500 (4-course meal with 3 wines); + taxes
