Pak-administered Kashmir goes to polls in July

As per the poll schedule, while voting would take place on July 11, nominations would open on June 2 and scrutinised on June 12.

Pakistan-administered Kashmir will go to the polls on July 11 with several restrictions in place for candidates, the election authorities announced.

Candidates have been allowed only one "major" public meeting and the other meetings shall be confined to less than 100 people, Pakistani Kashmir Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry said.

Carrying of weapons, bringing followers to the returning officer's office and use of official vehicles have been banned.

The restrictions would apply also to the prime minister and the ministers, the Daily Times reported.

Chaudhry also announced a ban on postings and transfers and enforcement of the poll code of conduct that covers announcement of developmental projects.

As per the poll schedule, while voting would take place on July 11, nominations would open on June 2 and be scrutinised on June 12. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 20.
