As per defence spokesperson Col RK Palta, "Pakistan again violated the ceasefire agreement by firing in the Jourian sector, Akhnoor. The firing started at about 7.45pm. Intermittent firing continued for about five hours and it stopped at 1.30pm. There was no loss of life or injury to anyone on the Indian side."

Akhnoor teshil, about 40 km from Jammu city, is equally divided between the international borer (IB) and Line of Control. The LoC starts from Sangam post, which is at some distance from the Pargwal area along IB, which had witnessed heavy firing by Pakistan Rangers last week.

The firing had again started two days after Pakistan Rangers told BSF officials that they will hold fire to allow farmers to tend to their fields right up to the zero line.

In the Jourian area, firing has disturbed farming activity along the zero line. It has also put question mark on the assurance of Rangers on not targeting farmers coming right up to the border, as they had started thinking about going back to their fields after the flag meeting.
