Apprehending that Pakistan based groups could carry out more attacks against India, a top US intelligence official has said unless Islamabad takes "concrete" measures against terrorists, Indo-Pak relations are unlikely to improve and threat of a nuclear war would remain.
"Determined efforts by Indian and Pakistani leaders to improve relations through the Composite Dialogue over the last four years could unravel" Dennis C Blair, the powerful new Director of US National Intelligence said in his annual threat assessment report.
He said the dialogue process will fail "unless Islamabad takes sustained, concrete, meaningful steps to allay Indian concerns about Islamabad's support to anti-Indian militant groups".
He apprehended that Pakistan based groups could carry out additional attacks against India and run the risk of provoking an India Pakistan conflict, unless Pakistan takes measures to purge them.
"This is the case particularly in light of the November 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai," Blair said in his report, which was presented to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence during a hearing.
