Pak under Musharraf an Asian cat: PML-N

The party said that the country has emerged as an 'Asian cat' under President Musharraf instead of an 'Asian Tiger'.

Pakistan under President Pervez Musharraf has emerged as an "Asian cat" instead of an "Asian Tiger" as Islamabad is now answerable to Afghanistan besides the US on the issue of cross border terrorism, Pakistan Muslim League-N, led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has said.

Referring to Musharraf's just concluded visit to Kabul, Information Secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal said his party was concerned over reports that General Musharraf spent most of his time giving clarifications on various issues to Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

In a statement published in the local media in Pakistan on Sunday, he said it was a matter of "shame" that besides the United States, Pakistan was now also answerable to Afghanistan.

Musharraf had "crossed all limits when he took measures to appease India," he said adding the government seemed to make Pakistan an "Asian Cat" instead of an "Asian Tiger".

Musharraf's policies based on fear and flattery had damaged and crushed the image of Pakistan, he alleged.

He said the anti-federation policies of the rulers had put the national security and integrity at stake.

Terming Musharraf the worst dictator, Iqbal said PML-N was ready to quit the assemblies immediately.

However, he said, the party was trying for collective resignations from all opposition parties.
