In yet another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops on Sunday night opened unprovoked firing on several forward posts in Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate.

"Pakistani troops have been resorting to unprovoked small arms firing in forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishnagati, Mandi, Balakote and Pallanwala sectors since 2130 hours tonight," a defence spokesperson told PTI.

While Krishnagati and Mandi sectors fall in Poonch, Balakote and Pallanwala are in Rajouri and Jammu respectively.

Army troops guarding the LoC took positions and retaliated effectively resulting in exchange of firing, which was still going on when last reports came in, the spokesperson said, adding, there has been no loss of life so far.

Pakistani rangers had on Saturday night resorted to firing of mortar bombs on border out-posts along the International Border in Jammu district.

"Pakistan Rangers resorted to firing of two mortar bombs on BoPs along the IB in RS Pura sector around 10:40pm last night," a senior BSF officer had said earlier in the day.
