Pakistan has accepted Iran's proposal for talks June 11-12 on launching a ferry service between the two countries.
Both sides had earlier put off the formal talks for a month. The much-awaited ferry will link Iran's Chahbabar port and Gwadar in Pakistan.
Sources in the ministry of ports and shipping told IANS that Iranian officials have sent a fresh proposal for the two-day talks to be held in Tehran from June 11.
"We have received the Iranian invitation and it has been accepted," an official said.
But officials indicated that the service was unlikely to be a successful affair.
"There are not much chances of trade between the two sides through sea. That's why one is not sure how successful the ferry service will be," the official said.
The two countries are, however, going to discuss cooperation in developing a joint strategy to control sea pollution and rescue and research operations.
"We will hold discussions to cooperate in rescue and research operations and developing a strategy to control increasing sea pollution," an official said in this Pakistani capital.
