That time of the year has come when lakhs of students seat for Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations, vying for university seats. I am one of those. I am very well aware of the importance that our Indian society (parents, teachers and relatives) attaches to a child's performance in the three-hour board examination.

This has almost become like a national ritual during which everyone from friends to relatives and neighbours ask you - 'How much did you score?' 'Will you be able to make to a college?' 'Which college have you chosen?'

All these questions add to overwhelming anxiety and fear. But as I prepare for my board exams which are less than a month away, I share with you my 'take a chill pill' approach. Instead of panicking, I believe that half battle is won if you plan well. My strategy is to first take up subjects that I find difficult. This way I can focus on my weak areas and even if I run out of time I can do a quick revision of subjects that I find easy.

Well that's all about my plans and now I have a piece of advice for my friends who will be appearing for board examinations this year - don't let examinations be a 'pressure cooker' in your lives. Remember an examination is just an assessment of one's skill or knowledge in a particular subject and it is not necessary that we all have to perform well in all the subjects. If we all were to be so-called equally 'intelligent', then this world would have a damn boring place. This world is an interesting place because we all have different creative and academic intellect and that's why we have Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso.

All these things that I am talking about might sound like clichés to many of you but the problem is that we know them but we don't implement them. Friends! Put yourself in the right frame of mind and give exams a tough time!
