Tension gripped Karnal railway station on Monday when one of its staff received a bomb threat call around 7am, which later turned out to be a hoax.

According to the government railway police (GRP), the unidentified person on phone claimed that the bomb was planted at the station and would go off any time.

Following the call, the district police were alerted and a bomb disposal squad team from the Haryana Police Academy at Madhubana here, was rushed to the spot.
Later, the officials confirmed that it was a hoax call.
Meanwhile, the station house officer of local GRP Ram Murti said that a case was registered against the unindentified person and efforts were on to nab the accused.
