THE KING George’s Medical University (KGMU) administration has decided to plug exam-paper leakage with modifications in the question paper preparation process.
Till now, the faculty prepared only two question papers—one for the main exam and one for the supplementary. Now, two teachers will make both the papers separately and neither of the papers will be marked for the main or supplementary exam. All papers will be printed in equal number and either can be used for any of the exams and the decision on which paper will be used for which exam will be taken just before the exams, says a senior faculty member.
Three more members will be included in the five-member anti-copying squad.
Proctor Dr VK Singh is the convenor of the squad while Dr NS Verma (Physiology), Dr AA Mahdi (Biochemistry), Dr Manish Bajpai (Physiology), Dr Urmila Singh (Gynaecology), Dr Sanjay Khatri (Pharmocology), Dr Reema Kumari (Community Medicine) and Dr Haider Abbas are the members of the squad.
Interestingly this order to make change in the anti-copying squad was made in the meeting of the Exam Committee back on August 27, 2003 meeting. The implementation got delayed by almost two years. “The squad has been empowered to seal the answer sheet of any candidate if found using unfair means during exam. Even the role of hall invigilator has been minimised in case a student is caught cheating,” said Dr VK Singh.
