Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi said today that the appointments, to be done in about a week’s time, would be on contract basis. There are 2800 sanctioned posts of staff nurse while 2710 are presently filled up.

The minister added that concerted steps were being undertaken to augment health services in MP. As part of that, while recruitments were being made on contract basis, doctors absent from duty for long periods without permission had been sacked, he pointed out.

Vishnoi informed that 4670 posts of doctors are sanctioned in MP and 302 new posts were approved this year. In 2005, 27 reserved category doctors had been appointed on regular basis through the state public service commission while 103 doctors of the same category had been appointed on contractual basis.

The state public service commission had advertised 550 posts of doctors under reserved categories while 91 contract doctors had been regularised by the State Government, the minister mentioned.
