IN A significant decision, Director General Health has directed all the deputy directors (health) to transfer paramedical staff posted in district hospitals and in medical colleges for the last five years. More significant is the fact that health officials have been directed to implement the order by May 7, which has created a panic-like situation among paramedical staff of the district hospital and medical college.

The transfer orders of the paramedical staff have compounded the problems for BRD Medical College authorities according to which Medical Council of India (MCI) team would visit various departments for spot verification of the infrastructure and availability of the teachers. It is notable that paramedical staffsA in medical college are playing a vital role due to shortage of staff.
According to sources, the paramedical staff such as pharmacists, lab technicians, physiotherapists, X-ray technicians are posted at the same post for the last seven to eight years at BRD Medical College. In case of transfer of these paramedical staffers and delay in posting to vacanciess, the MCI team can suggest derecognising of the degree of the medical college.
Similarly, in district hospital, various posts of paramedical staff are lying vacant for the last one year. If a few more paramedical staff are transferred, it will be hard for the Chief Medical Superintendent to streamline the health services in the district hospital.
