The grieving parents, Amritpal Kaur Loyal and Santokh Singh Ghataora, who live in Birmingham, UK, have now written to the authorities concerned in India, asking for the organs of Gurkiren, 8, to be returned so that they are able to cremate her, a woman speaking for the family as stated.

Gurkiren was holidaying with her parents when she was moved to a clinic in Khanna on April 2 after being taken ill. She died shortly after being administered what her parents claim was a mystery injection. When her body was returned to Britain, a coroner said all her internal organs had been removed.

The organs were removed for autopsy at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, where she had been transferred from the clinic. In their letter to Dr Bal of Rajendra Hospital; Jasvir Singh Gill, president of the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Sabha of Punjab; and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the parents requested the return of Gurkiren's organs, a copy of the autopsy report, and the promised video film of the autopsy procedure.

Local labour councillor Narinder Kaur Kooner said it was essential for the organs to be returned in a suitable condition, without any chemicals added, so that the family could have a second post-mortem examination carried out in Britain. "They also wish to ensure that they can complete the cremation of their daughter and have closure and grieve properly for Gurkiren," she said.
