AS AGAINST the popular belief that the new syllabus of the joint entrance examination (JEE) and the restrictions imposed upon the number of attempts for the examination will discourage the coaching business, the ‘coaching bazaar’ has become more hot this year.
One would be surprised to learn that earlier it was the candidates who arrived in the city all alone, took information about the best coaching institute, had visited the institutes and finally took admission in one of the institutes, which appeared to be the best in every respect.
But from this year, the candidates are visiting the caching institute with their parents. The parents have become more concerned about the future of their respective wards and they do not want that their wards should take decision about the institute of their own.
One of the parents, who had come from the Meerut told HT that so far there were more attempts allowed to the students for appearing at the JEE and the students could be given freedom of selecting the institute of their choice. But since the restriction of two attempts has been imposed it has become necessary to ensure that the student’s selection of coaching institute was right.
Other parents said the time has gone when students were asked to learn from trial and error. There was place of applying the trial and error principle.

Till last year, only the parents of the girl candidates accompanied their daughters for selecting the coaching institute. But this time boy students could be seen with their parents moving from one coaching center to another to get assured of the excellence of the institute before admitting their son.
