“I don’t understand how the state can be dormant for nine months and then suddenly make controversial decisions in haste. They need to prove to all boards that this 90 per cent reservation for state board is a fair decision,” said a parent of an SSC student and a teacher at an engineering college, requesting anonymity, fearing controversy.

The SSC Board Palak Sanghatana, a group of parents of SSC students, organised a meeting on Thursday to discuss the workability of the 90 per cent reservation for state board, recently declared by Education Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.

“If this policy is passed, CBSE and ICSE students will go to court and hatred will be created towards the government. This quota system might work in Mumbai if it finds a way to rationalise its logic to everyone,” said Radhika Kulkarni (16), SSC student.
