Parents shave off teen’s hair as punishment

Following their failure to dissuade their son from stealing, parents of a 15-year old boy allegedly tonsured his head and inflicted injuries on his private parts in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, the police said on Sunday.

Following their failure to dissuade their son from stealing, parents of a 15-year old boy allegedly tonsured his head and inflicted injuries on his private parts in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, the police said on Sunday.

It was the victim's aunt who approached the Narsapur police on Saturday and booked a case against the boy's parents under Section 324 of IPC (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), they said.

While the boy's mother Chandramma was arrested, his father Shankrayaa is absconding.

"After their repeated efforts to stop the boy from stealing failed, the parents resorted to this punishment on July 31," Narsapur Circle Inspector N Venkateshwarlu told PTI.

The accused allegedly tonsured his head, and inflicted injuries on his private parts with a blade.
