Passengers air lifted

As many as 109 passengers, including a sick man, were air lifted from Srinagar to Kargil in an Air Force AN 32 plane in Srinagar as the Srinagar-Leh National Highway is closed, an official spokesman said.

32 passengers were also airlifted from Leh and Zanskar in frontier region of Ladakh yesterday, he said.

The passengers were air lifted as the 434-km Srinagar-Leh National Highway is closed since November last year for winter months in view of heavy accumulation of snow on the road.
