Former Pakistani cricket captain Shoaib Malik and tennis star Sania Mirza might be relieved after his divorce from Ayesha Siddiqui, but their post-marriage plans have taken a hit as Malik is yet to get his passport back.
Malik (29) and Mirza (23) had planned to host a reception in Lahore immediately after one in Hyderabad on April 15, the day of their wedding, and then fly off for their honeymoon.
But Malik’s passport is with a Hyderabad court and he has to file an application for its release.
Malik will get his passport only after the cases against him are quashed.
For this, both Malik and Ayesha, his first wife, will have to appear in court and resolve the matter. Ayesha filed a complaint against Malik for harassment, criminal intimidation and cheating and merely withdrawing the FIR will not suffice. The whole process might take up to 10 days, said an official who did not want to be named.

{{/usCountry}}“We will ensure the applications are done and the compromise is reached in court as soon as possible with the consent of both families,” said Abid Khan, who was part of the negotiations between the two families.
The Hyderabad Police are yet to hear from Ayesha Siddiqui regarding the withdrawal of the FIR. “We have not received anything but we have slowed down our investigations,” said B. Muralidhar, assistant commissioner of police, who is heading the probe.
But in the Mirza household in the posh Jubilee Hills localty everyone seems to be having a jolly good time.
Eleven of Malik’s guests flew in from Pakistan. Caterers have been floating in and out of the house with various platters of biryani for a terrace party was to be held on Thursday night.
