Accusing the NDA government in Bihar of "total failure on all fronts", LJP President Ramvilas Paswan on Tuesday said his party would organise rallies and demonstrations across the state as part of an agitation from next month to apprise the people of the "betrayal" by the Nitish Kumar ministry.

"The NDA government has failed on all fronts. There is no improvement in law and order while development is not visible," Paswan told reporters.

He announced that the LJP would organise rallies from July 20 and hold demonstrations from August 9 across the state to highlight the "failures" of the state government "which has betrayed the people".

Paswan said though there was a decline in cases of kidnapping, rape and other cognizable offences during the campaign for the panchayat elections, he still felt that the government was not serious to rein in the activities of criminals.

Private entrepreneurs were hesitant to make investment in Bihar, while in Haryana and Punjab a number of big industrial houses including Ambanis had committed to invest more than one lakh crore rupees, he said.

He described as hollow the promises and announcements being made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar every day. "all these promises and announcements are intended only to hoodwink the masses," he said, adding suitable steps had not been taken to fulfil these.
