THE PATIENTS and their kin had to bear the brunt of power cut at the Hallet Hospital. The KESCo officials snapped the electricity supply to the hospital for non-payment of power dues pending for the last two years.
The Hallet Hospital, attached to the Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, had to pay electricity bills to the tune of Rs 3.5 crore.
Following a dialogue between the GSVM Medical College Principal Dr SK Katiyar and the general manager KESCo PC Chaudhary, the power supply was restored.
Talking to HT, hospital junior engineer AK Vishwakarma said that the hospital had deposited Rs 1.5 crore as first installment against the dues about a week back but still the KESCo officials did not pay any heed to the same.
The KESCo officials said that if the payment was not made, the power supply would be snapped again after a week.
Operations could be performed with the help of generators. The Hallet Hospital consumes electricity worth Rs 12 lakh per month.

The junior engineer citing reason said that no budget had been allocated for the payment of electricity bill.This led to non-payment for the last two years, he added.
