A spokesman of the PCB added from Lahore that if required, Shoaib will be asked to appear before the three-man committee that includes former Test captain Imtiaz Ahmed, Director (Board Operations) Abbas Zaidi and legal advisor Asghar Haider.

"Yes, we have received Shoaib Akhtar's reply which will be examined on Wednesday. If required, we will also ask Shoaib Akhtar to appear before the committee in person," the spokesman said.

He said until the completion of the inquiry, Shoaib will not be considered for selection.

"That's normal procedure but there is nothing sinister and the proceedings of these inquiry will be concluded well before the selectors sit down to finalise the squad," the spokesman added.

The 16-man team for the Indian tour will be announced on February 18.
