The Pakistan Cricket Board has made up its mind to reject any claim of compensation by the England and Wales Cricket Board for the forfeited fourth Test at The Oval, which was mired with the ball-tampering controversy.
As per the estimates of the ECB, they have lost 800,000 pounds because of Pakistan's refusal to take to field after being penalised for alleged ball tampering.
After the exoneration of Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq of ball-tampering charges, PCB now refuses to own up any responsibility for the forfeiture of the match.
"We are not ready to pay because it was not our responsibility," PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan was quoted as saying by the BBC Sport on Monday.
"It's a question of causation. Our view would be that the causal link (of the abandonment) doesn't end up at the door of the PCB," Waseem Khokhar, one of the lawyers representing DLA Piper which fought the case for PCB, told the Sunday Times.
The ECB is yet to write to the PCB asking for compensation on the ground that spectators who attended the fourth day's play were given a 40 per cent refund and those having tickets for the fifth day got a full refund.
