An activist of the Peoples Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA), has surrendered before a court in Jhargram, police said on Tuesday.

Jiten Giri surrendered before the Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate SK Mohammed Reza on Monday, they said, adding several cases, including sedition, possession of illegal arms, murder and conspiracy were pending against him.

Giri hails from Manikpara, 22 km from Jhargram, where the local people recently protested against the activities of the Maoists and PCPA and refused to join a PCPA rally on Friday.
He is currently in judicial remand, they added.
