"It will be interesting to watch how the alliance between the BJP and the PDP will shape up, especially in the background of high-pitched accusations and tantrums hurled by these parties against each other ahead of the elections," said Rana, addressing NC workers at Nagrota on Friday afternoon.

Rana has won from the Nagrota assembly seat.

"The two parties are playing hide and seek because the BJP is locked in an electoral battle in Delhi and its leadership is feeling apologetic on being seen hobnobbing with the PDP in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

He said the fractured mandate, however, has changed the equations with both these parties getting eager to lie in each other's lap for sharing the loaves of power. Rana said, ironically, the proposed arrangement is being vainly argued and justified as a requirement in the larger interests of the people.

"The PDP and the BJP have virtually held the people and the state to ransom for bargaining and bartering the electoral mandate," he added.
