"It is time that a bold, strong and, of course, measured and calibrated initiative is taken to strengthen people's faith in the process of dialogue and peaceful resolution," PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said in a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister here this evening.

Describing the expression of desire by the PM from the soil of Kashmir to reciprocate good conduct by Pakistan as heartening and in line with his political vision for the region and Jammu and Kashmir, she said UPA's return to power at the Centre under his stewardship should add momentum to the peace process initiated in 2003.

Noting that any endeavour to find a solution to the Kashmir problem must address both its external and internal dimensions, she said unless the initiative takes care of both the aspects, the state would continue to face problems that have bedevilled successive generations since independence.
