NC vice president Rattan Lal Gupta said when Omar took over the state, restoring normalcy because of the vicious situation created by the PDP, was a challenge which he succeeded in.
Omar became chief minister in 2008 when the state was divided along regional and religious lines in wake of the Amarnath land row. "It was only because normalcy was restored that panchayat elections were held after three decades in the state," Gupta said.

The NC leader said steps were taken to bring about accountability by enacting the legislation of Public Services Guarantee and Right to Information Acts.

"If the jaundiced eyes of PDP cannot see the initiatives taken over the years by the Omar-led government, their malady cannot be treated," he said.

"The PDP leadership should stop hoodwinking the public by indulging in falsehood. The performance of the National Conference led government is the best answer to the malicious propaganda of the PDP leadership," said the NC leader.
