"I was lenient during my last term and so many ministers got away with their omissions and commissions. Don't expect the same to happen this time," Rajasekhara Reddy reportedly told his 35 cabinet colleagues soon after they were inducted late on Monday night.

The Chief Minister sent a clear message that he was sitting with the whip in his hand and will not hesitate to crack it if any of the ministers is found wanting in discharge of their duties.

He told them that if they can't perform, they can sit at home and do their own business, senior minister Rosaiah said after the cabinet interaction.

The Chief Minister was very particular that every minister be present in the Legislative Assembly or the Legislative Council, depending on the roster, and take an active part in the proceedings.
