The former Star India CEO, who was questioned for nearly 12 hours till late on Wednesday night in connection with the case, reached Khar police station at around 11:30am. Indrani was also brought to the police station two hours later.

"Mukerjea was called again at the Khar Police Station today [Thursday] as we are trying to corroborate his statement with that of Indrani, with whom he co-founded INX Media," said a police officer.

Both Peter and Indrani are likely to be brought face to face, a senior officer said, as police seek to solve the three-year-old murder. Indrani was arrested on August 25 for the alleged murder of her daughter.

During questioning, the same set of questions was given to Peter as well as Indrani, who was brought in from the Bandra Police lock-up and made to sit in an adjoining room at the Khar police station.

Some of the questions posed to Peter pertained to his financial transactions, especially his investments, his share in various companies, and how much money he had given to Indrani, his son Rahul from a previous marriage, step-daughter Sheena, and younger step-daughter Vidhie, who is Indrani's daughter from her previous marriage.

Indrani had passed off her children, Sheena and Mikhail Bora, as her younger siblings to Peter and everyone else. She told everyone, including Peter and Rahul, his son from an earlier marriage, that Sheena had gone to the US for higher studies. Sheena was in a relationship with Rahul and was living in with him in Mumbai.

On Tuesday, Siddhartha Das - a Kolkata man claiming to be Sheena's biological father - surfaced and said he came to know about her death through the media and had not been in touch with Indrani all this while.

The 24-year-old was killed in April 2012, allegedly by Indrani and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna with the help of her driver Shyam Rai. Her body was burnt and dumped at a forest in Raigad, about 84km from Mumbai.

Her purported remains were found a month later and buried by the police, which treated the body as unclaimed.

The Forensic Science Laboratory at Kalina has begun the process of analysing the samples of Indrani and skeletal remains found in Raigad district to match the DNA and determine if the body was that of Sheena's.
