Phone helpline for voters

The Department of Elections has installed helpline phone facility to enable voters know details about the polling booths before casting their votes.

The Department of Elections in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre here has installed helpline phone facility to enable voters know details about the polling booths where they have to cast their ballots in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

A communication from the Assistant Returning Officer G Ragesh Chandra today said the helpline facility would be available from Monday till the election date on May 10.

The department had already installed touch screen kiosks at offices of Tashildars in Pondicherry, Oulgaret, Bahoor, Villianoor, Karaikal and Tirunallar to help voters.

Voters have to furnish the numbers of the electors photo photo identity cards or their residential address to get the details relating to booths and other particulars.

Voters would be explained the procedure to be adopted on the operation of electronic voting machines by officials at specific places from April 8 and through mobile units also, Ragesh Chandra added.
