Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Lok Sabha that he would make a statement in the House on Wednesday on whether Indian Air Force (IAF) guidelines were violated by allowing chairman and members of the Tehelka inquiry commission to use aircraft meant for VVIP travel.

"I will make a statement on Wednesday on the Phukan Commission matter," he said during zero hour.
CPI (M), a major supporter of the ruling UPA, had on Monday asked the Government to enquire if there had been a violation of guidelines on use of IAF aircraft by the chairman and members probing the Tehelka expose into fictitious defence deals.
CPI-M leader Basudeb Acharia had said even laywers associated with the Tehelka Commission were taken on a "junket" to Pune, Ahmednagar, Shirdi and Mumbai by IAF aircraft and helicopter ostensibly to familiarise them with weapon systems.
