Pilots' union demand reinstatement of sacked pilots

On the third day of the Jet pilot stalemate, National Aviators Guild (NAG) President Capt Girish Kaushik reiterated the union's demands of reinstatement of the four sacked pilots. He also added that the Jet management is slated to meet the union on Friday for the resolution of the deadlock.

There seems to be no end to the Jet Airways saga. President of the National Aviators Guild (NAG) Captain Girish Kaushik addressed the media in Mumbai on Thursday to clarify the pilots' stand.

He said that the pilots are ready to fly only if their four sacked colleagues are reinstated. He also insisted that the pilots are on "mass leave" and not on any illegal strike, and so its does not qualify as contempt to court.

The management of Indian carrier Jet Airways will hold talks with striking pilot's union in New Delhi on Friday, Kaushik told reporters.

According to TV report, the NAG has moved the Chennai High Court earlier today against sacking of pilots and hiring foreign pilots instead. Meanwhile, Jet's ground staff have sided with the authorities and have appealed the striking pilots to return to work.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal met the Labour Minister Mallikarjun Karge to discuss the issue. Goyal has reportedly warned that if the strike continues, more pilots could lose their job.
