Pinki Pramanik released, talks of harassment

Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik, accused by a woman of being male and raping her after promising marriage, walked out of jail after 26 days on Wednesday and alleged she was the victim of a conspiracy involving blackmail.

Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik, accused by a woman of being male and raping her after promising marriage, walked out of jail after 26 days on Wednesday and alleged she was the victim of a conspiracy involving blackmail.

“I have been framed,” Pramanik, 26, said after coming out of Dum Dum Central Correctional Home around 9.30am.

On Anamika Acharya, the woman who has levelled the charges against her, she said, “She used to do my chores. She had demanded money from me long back, but I didn’t give it and she took this path.”

Acharya, 30, described as Pramanik’s live-in partner, had fainted outside the Barasat chief judicial magistrate court after the athlete got bail.
