A massive jam was seen along Cyber City, which further extended up to the Expressway, leaving thousands stranded for over two hours.

Waterlogging at Iffco Chowk also affected vehicular movement at Shankar Chowk and other places along the expressway. Commuters wanting to turn left from Shankar Chowk flyover towards Udyog Vihar were trapped in the 4-5 lane jam that spread up to the main carriageway.

The exit at this point is very narrow. The situation was worse at Shankar Chowk flyover as vehicles turning right just before the toll plaza for going towards Cyber City and Ambience Mall piled up in huge numbers blocking movement from Gurgaon to Delhi.

“This is the beginning of the monsoon season. The pipeline burst has exposed all claims of civic management of the city. Waterlogging is present everywhere,” said Rohit Sharma, a daily commuter.

The traffic police were helpless in controlling the situation citing lack of manpower.

The traffic police has approximately 300 personnel while according to the Master Plan 2009, the district should have around 600 people in the department.
