The state unit leaders against whom Om Prakash Vishnoi filed his complaint include MPs Raghubir Singh Kaushal and Kailash Meghwal, former state BJP unit chief Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi, three state cabinet ministers and two MLAs.

The court has fixed the hearing for Saturday.

Jaswant Singh dismissed the charge as baseless but according to Vishnoi’s complaint, TV channels and local dailies clearly establish that opium was served at a lunch organised for BJP dissidents by the Singh at his village in Barmer district on Wednesday.

Jaipur lawyer Suresh Sahni said the minimum punishment for the offence under the NDPS Act is 10 years’ imprisonment.
