The Haryana City Gas Service will soon supply piped natural gas (PNG) to some 350 plotted colonies of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda).
The agency decided this in a meeting last week.
The gas service, the sole supplier of CNG and PNG in Gurgaon, will hire a private contractor to conduct a survey of the colonies. The survey will find out the total number of PNG consumers in the plotted areas and the cost to be incurred on infrastructure. The agency will soon float a tender to hire a contractor.
Representatives of the residents' welfare association (RWA) of Sector 56 plotted areas have written to the agency, requesting it to start the supply shortly. "The agency was supposed to float a tender last week. But now, it says the tender will take a few more days to be floated," said SD Bharadwaj, a member of the RWA.
Once the survey is complete, the number of domestic PNG users will be ascertained. Only after this, the agency will be able to decide how much each consumer will have to bear in the total infrastructure cost.
Each consumer will have to pay the pipeline installation cost as fixed by the company. "It's only after the survey that we will know how much we need to pay for the installation," said YK Srivastav, a resident.

The residents feel that PNG supply would be safer and cheaper than LPG.
