PM has khichdi for dinner post surgery

The PM, who has been advised two days of post-operative rest at the hospital, will return home on Monday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was doing well after he underwent a prostrate surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Saturday, doctors said.

A team of doctors led by NP Gupta, head of the department of urology at AIIMS, conducted the operation to treat benign enlargement of the prostrate.

According to a source in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), no visitors were allowed to meet him on Saturday and the same restriction will be in place on Sunday as well.

"Only family members have been allowed to meet him," a PMO official told IANS.

"He had soup and khichdi for dinner. Doctors say he is doing well," he said, adding his cabinet colleagues sent him "get well soon" messages.

Manmohan Singh has been advised two days of post-operative rest at the hospital. He will return home on Monday, an official statement said.
