Addressing the Police Commemoration Day Parade in Bangalore, he said he was "overwhelmed" by the response from the Prime Minister who expressed his serious concern about the people affected by floods in North Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa, who led a delegation of ministers that met the Prime Minister in Delhi yesterday, said "we were really overwhelmed by Dr Singh's response. I thank the Prime Minister for sending teams of officials to survey the flood affected areas in the state".

He said the state government had already released Rs600 crore to take up flood relief works in the 15 affected districts. The government has also initiated steps to shift villagers from 224 flood-prone villages and identified 5000 acres of land to relocate them.
