PM hints at major policy changes in Rail budget

Amidst cheers from the members, the PM was all praise for the impressive performance of Rail minister Lalu Prasad.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday hinted at major investment and policy-change announcements in the Railway Budget to be presented to Parliament on Friday.

"The Railways have turned around under the able leadership of Mr Lalu Prasad who will be announcing major investment and policy changes in the Railway Budget", the Prime Minister said in his reply to the debate on Motion of Thanks on the President's Address in the Rajya Sabha.

Amidst cheers from the members, the Prime Minister was all praise for an impressive performance of Mr Lalu Prasad so much so that Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat remarked "Laluji you should have brought Rabri Deviji with you".

The Prime Minister did not elaborate on the performance of the Railways in the wake of impending Railway Budget.
