PM likely to visit flood-hit areas

Besides Orissa, Andhra, M'rashtra and Gujarat, PMO is also closely monitoring the flood situation in Chhattisgarh.

After speaking to the chief ministers of flood-affected Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Orissa, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to visit some of these areas later this week to get a first hand assessment of the situation.

Besides these states, the PMO is also closely monitoring the flood situation in Chhattisgarh, PM's media adviser Sanjaya Baru said.

Under instructions from the Prime Minister, the Home Ministry is providing full support to flood relief, he added.
