Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the United Arab Emirates on August 16 and 17.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the United Arab Emirates on August 16 and 17.

This will be the first visit of Modi to Gulf, and he would be visiting Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The last Indian Indian PM to visit the UAE was Indira Gandhi in 1981. Modi is expected to attend a public reception hosted by members of Indian community at Dubai Cricket Stadium on August 17.

“He is on a strategic trip to the UAE, I want our Indian community to take full advantage of this trip,” Indian businessman Dr BR Shetty told Gulf News.

“It is a free event and transport will be provided from Dubai Mall and Dubai Internet City metro stations. More details will be announced soon,” Dr Shetty, who is a member of the organising committee, said.
