Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to intervene when the two Houses of Parliament discuss the Indo-US nuclear deal on December 18-19, the last two days of the winter session.
The reply to the debate will, however, be given by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Parliamentary Affairs Minister PR Dasmunsi said. But the reply to the debate on the 11 th Plan Approach paper will be given by the PM who returns from his Japan trip on December 16.
The OBC quota in education bill expected to come up for consideration in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The likely passage of the bill-which is being backed by almost all parties---would help the Government offset the impression that the session has been barren in terms of legislations passed.
The impression gained strength after the Left's objections forced the government to shelve the three key economic bills it wanted to bring in this session: the Insurance, Banking Regulation and the Pension Fund and Regulatory Authority bills. The Women's Reservation Bill also appears to have fallen by the wayside in the face of stiff resistance by the RJD MPs.
