Ramadoss, while releasing manifesto of PMK at Embalam in Puducherry on Friday, said the AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa's stand on forming Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka to settle the crisis in the island nation demonstrated her deep concern and care for the welfare of the suffering Tamils in the ethnic war in the island nation.

PMK, which has re-fielded sitting MP M Ramadoss as its Lok Sabha candidate, assured that they would take initiatives to ensure statehood with special category status to Puducherry, which would procure more powers and financial assistance from the Central pool for the development of the Union Territory.

The party promised more funds for Puducherry from the Finance Commission and it would urge the Centre to scrap the Central Sales Tax (CST) Act so that the impact caused by Value Added Taxes could be eased.
