Police initiate proceedings against SP leader

Police on Wednesday initiated proceedings in Muzaffarnagar against SP leader Mukesh Chaudhary and five others under gangster act for allegedly attacking a Dalit officer.

Police on Wednesday initiated proceedings in Muzaffarnagar against SP leader Mukesh Chaudhary and five others under gangster act for allegedly attacking a Dalit officer.

According to SSP Vijay Prakash six people including Chaudhary have been named in a case of attempt to murder. The accused allegedly shot at a district welfare officer Rinku Singh Rahi on March 26.

Two accused Ashok Kumar Kashyap and Adesh Thakur have already been arrested and remanded to 14 days judicial custody while four others including Chaudhary are still absconding, police said.

Rinku Singh, was shot at by the accused and was seriously injured. It was alleged that Choudhary, who is the proprietor of several schools, was unhappy because Singh did not sanction student scholarships for his schools.

Singh had also ordered a departmental inquiry into the alleged corruption.
