While police sources said DSP D Nalini quit owing to health problems, the officer reportedly said in her resignation letter to the Director General of Police that she was quitting as she could not work under “officers hailing from Andhra region.

"Nalini, who passed out of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy as a direct recruit as DSP, joined her first posting in Medak only four months ago. She, however, has been on medical leave for over a month now after undergoing hysterectomy operation.

"She has submitted a letter to me but we are yet to examine the contents. Being a government servant, there is a procedure for resignation. We are looking into the issue," state DGP R R Girish Kumar said.

She has a 12-year-old daughter. Prior to becoming a police officer, she had worked as a hostel warden in the Social Welfare Department, police sources said.
