An MBA student was injured after falling from the rooftop of her house under mysterious circumstances in Meerut, official sources said on Sunday.
Initially, it was alleged that Parul Mullick was pushed by her father SP Singh, a sub-inspector with Uttar Pradesh
police, as she married against the wishes of her family members but the girl today retracted from her earlier
statement, they said.
"Parul (22) has given in writing that she fell on her own," SP (rural area) Meerut Sharad Sachan said.
The MBA student had an affair with her batch mate Dileep Kumar and wanted to marry him. "The duo got married at a
temple during a trip to Vaishno Devi shrine earlier this month," they said.
After being admitted to a private hospital on Friday night following her fall, Parul, in her initial statement
given to the police and magistrate, accused her father of making an attempt on her life.
"As the girl has not filed any complaint and had given in writing there is no case against her father Singh," he said.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police Brij Lal said that the police would look into the matter.
"During investigation if anything foul is detected then a case would be lodged and required action would be taken," he told reporters in Lucknow.
