His subsequent attempt to get remotes from the city market landed him into jail.

The police said the sophisticated burglary took place on the night of May 4-5, when the offender, whose name the police have not divulged, sneaked into Khalid Electronics and decamped with 10 LED TVs, costing more than Rs 3 lakh.

"During investigation we received information from two places in the city that someone was looking for remotes of a specific brand and model of TV," said police superintendent (North City) Tahir Salim.

"As we investigated further, the person turned out to be a member of a reputed family. After questioning he admitted to the crime," Salim said.

"We recovered one TV from his girlfriend's home. He had gifted another to his brother-in-law," Salim said.
