Police saved us, says security guard

“On Tuesday night, madam (Maluste) called up and told us not to allow any visitor who came to meet her. She said a man in a Maruti Swift would be coming down to meet her in some time,” said Singh.

Singh was grateful to the police for reaching the spot in time and taking control of the situation. “Since the man (Zaveri) was carrying weapons, it was evident that he would have attacked us during retaliation and we would have been killed,” said Singh.

Singh, who is attached with security agency Hindustan Security Service, did not know that the weapon recovered from the accused was a toy gun.

Around 50 policemen in plain clothes had spread across the complex to arrest Zaveri an hour before he reached the complex. “The driver of the black Maruti Swift, which drove in from the no-entry area, was alerted as there were three police jeeps parked outside. He took a turn towards Kemps Corner,” Singh added. The police chased the car and caught Zaveri.
