Addressing a function on the Police Memorial Day here on Saturday, Yadav, however, assured, the cops that more welfare schemes would be announced after the civic poll. Without taking the name of Governor TV Rajeswar, who had recently shot off a letter to State Election Commissioner AP Singh, demanding a ban on distribution of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidya Dhan during the poll, the chief minister said some people were not sensitive to issues. Yadav, however, took notice of the statement of AP Singh that he (AP Singh) was pained at the ban. The BJP and Congress had also flayed the chief minister for “violating the code of conduct”.

However, Yadav said the government would bear all the medical expenses of policemen. He said more facilities were in store, which would be provided soon.

Director general of police Bua Singh said of the 752 policemen killed over past one year in the country, 136 were from UP. The DGP also paid glowing tributes to martyrs of the department. The chief minister presented gifts to widows of policemen.
